Luba's Studio

Luba’s Piano Studio offers private piano lessons to students of all ages and abilities in family-friendly Livingston, NJ. Luba believes every child comes to our world with musical ability. With the right guidance and support, every child can bring that musicality into their expressions.

As a music teacher with over twenty years of experience, and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Saint Petersburg Conservatory, she believes that it is her duty to foster and inspire this natural capacity. She strives to bring out the innate musicality in each and every student.

Music is a necessary part of life and children need the beauty and expression of music just as much as they need to read or multiply.

Biography

Luba Vasilyeva was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. At the age of six, she was enrolled in the Rachmaninoff Music School of Arts, where she started to study piano with some of the premiere music maestros in the Soviet Union. After successful completion of music school, Luba continued her study at the Mussorgsky School under the guidance of Lubov Pevzner. She received her Bachelor degree with Honors in piano. At the same time, Luba’s music career started to grow, and she performed her solo recital at the Great Philharmonic Hall as well as participated in numerous master classes with Natalia Trull and Tatiana Kravchenko.

Upon earning her degree, Luba was accepted into the prestigious St. Petersburg Conservatory, where she earned her Master’s degree, with Honors. She had the privilege of working and studying under the leadership of Vasily Kalmykov, an advocate for the preservation of the Russian musical tradition. During her years in Conservatory, Luba performed a series of solo piano recitals, as well as took part in the Chamber Ensembles. Mrs. Vasilyeva also has served on the faculties of the Mussorgsky School of Music and Saint Petersburg Conservatory.

In 1999, she and her family immigrated to the United States. Mrs. Vasilyeva is a concert pianist and chamber musician, with a number of solo performances in the Millburn Library, East Brunswick Art Center, Hinman Hall, Four Seasons, City College of New York, and Steinway Hall, NYC. She has participated in master classes with J. Kalichstein, S. Bernstein, and is a former student of Elena Tatulyan. Mrs. Vasilyeva currently has her piano studio in Livingston, NJ.

Studio Details

At Luba’s Piano Studio there are lessons and classes for everyone – first-time learners, toddlers, adults, and students pursuing music as a career. Luba has devoted her life to music education and she thoroughly enjoys sharing this love of music with all of her students. Her studio welcomes students across Livington, Caldwell, Short Hills, and neighboring towns.

Luba’s Piano Studio is dedicated to providing students with an exceptional educational and artistic experience while fostering creative expression, promoting personal enrichment, and encouraging a love of music that transcends the studio and enhances arts awareness and appreciation in their families and communities. Luba believes in an individualized approach to learning and is committed to providing the best experience for her students.

The studio provides two studio recitals a year: a Winter Recital in December and a Spring Recital in May. All students are typically prepared with two or more pieces played by memory. In addition to two concerts, her students annually participate in numerous festivals and competitions, such as the Golden Key Music Festival, Russian Music Festival, Crescendo International Music Competition, and the Steinway Jacob Music Competition. Luba prepares students for the Royal Conservatory Music Program and the Annual Audition for the MEA (Music Educators Association of NJ) which takes place in June.

For the last 12 years her students achieved the highest results with Superior, Outstanding, and Outstanding+ grades, a testament to Luba’s experience and passion for her work. She has also prepared multiple students for their enrollment to the Manhattan School of Music pre-college program.
