Concert pianist, Teacher
Luba’s Piano Studio offers private piano lessons to students of all ages and abilities in family-friendly Livingston, NJ. Luba believes every child comes to our world with musical ability. With the right guidance and support, every child can bring that musicality into their expressions.
As a music teacher with over twenty years of experience, and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Saint Petersburg Conservatory, she believes that it is her duty to foster and inspire this natural capacity. She strives to bring out the innate musicality in each and every student.
Music is a necessary part of life and children need the beauty and expression of music just as much as they need to read or multiply.
Luba Vasilyeva was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. At the age of six, she was enrolled in the Rachmaninoff Music School of Arts, where she started to study piano with some of the premiere music maestros in the Soviet Union. After successful completion of music school, Luba continued her study at the Mussorgsky School under the guidance of Lubov Pevzner. She received her Bachelor degree with Honors in piano. At the same time, Luba’s music career started to grow, and she performed her solo recital at the Great Philharmonic Hall as well as participated in numerous master classes with Natalia Trull and Tatiana Kravchenko.
Upon earning her degree, Luba was accepted into the prestigious St. Petersburg Conservatory, where she earned her Master’s degree, with Honors. She had the privilege of working and studying under the leadership of Vasily Kalmykov, an advocate for the preservation of the Russian musical tradition. During her years in Conservatory, Luba performed a series of solo piano recitals, as well as took part in the Chamber Ensembles. Mrs. Vasilyeva also has served on the faculties of the Mussorgsky School of Music and Saint Petersburg Conservatory.
In 1999, she and her family immigrated to the United States. Luba is a wonderful instructor! My son has been learning with her for the past few years now, and he has improved so much under her guidance – even getting “outstanding plus” on his pre-senior level MEA exam! I recommend her highly!
Mrs. Luba has so much patience with both of my children. Sometimes we feel that she is not only teaching the kids to play piano but also teaching them how to think and study efficiently. We highly recommend her!
Luba's lessons are so helpful to my playing! Under her guidance, I have won many awards.
Mrs. Luba is a wonderful instructor! She is very patient, and giving lessons in a fun and courage way. My 10 year old daughter has taken her lessons for over 5 years. She loves her lessons and enjoys the music!
Luba is a wonderful, kind and patient teacher. My daughter studied the piano with her for 12 years and enjoyed every single lesson! She has won several medals and certificates and these are a testimony to Luba's excellent teaching skills! She nurtures the love of music in her students and builds their technique and ability according to each child's innate talent/strength.
I was a student of Luba's from elementary through high school, and am incredibly grateful for all she has taught me. Not just learning to play Chopin or Rachmaninoff. But learning to listen, practice, and perform. Thanks so much Luba. For making music a part of my life.
